about

Hey there Sextants fans.
Our friend Russell posted a picture on Facebook of a Sextants Demo cassette none of us in the band had ever seen. What makes it unique is the cassette label, says Qwest Records. Qwest Records was started by Quincy Jones in 1980 and shut down in 2000. We reached out to our former A&R Rep & Gang of Four drummer Hugo Burnham who had worked for Qwest after Imago Records for help with the mystery. Hugo said, "Not sure. Maybe I did these to try and get you signed after Imago". The tape features tracks none of us have heard in ages such as Plastic Duck, Rattlesnake, and Better Off Dead. It also features early versions of songs that ended up on Lucky You like She Thinks & Sunflower Candy. We did our best to capture the cassette and bring it up to today's sonic standards, but we left the flaws in there, so you might hear some hiss and the occasional dropout. I hope you enjoy it.
